Family Flicks: Ernest & Celestine
Co-presented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive
Dazzling, hand-painted watercolor animation brings Gabrielle Vincent’s Belgian children’s books to life in this Oscar-nominated gem. In a world sharply divided by fear between bears, who live above, and mice, who live below, an unlikely bond blooms between a grumpy, music-loving bear and a spirited little mouse with big dreams. Mutual need brings them together but a shared love of creativity and fun connects them in a story about how friendship can change the world.
Director: Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar, Benjamin Renner. Screenwriters: Daniel Pennac, Gabrielle Vincent. With: Forest Whitaker, Mackenzie Foy, Lauren Bacall.
