Hammer Circle

Formed in 2011, Hammer Circle is an invitation-only group of collectors and arts champions. The goals for the group are twofold: to create a community of active and inspired collectors interested in emerging talent, and to build a solid foundation of support for the Hammer’s Made in L.A. exhibition series, a biennial which features artists working in Southern California.

With approximately 40 members, the Hammer Circle learns together about new art and artists locally and internationally, while also engaging with the fields of architecture, food, fashion, and design. Hammer curators along with the group’s co-chairs, Tracy O’Brien and Dee Kerrison, create exclusive and unique opportunities that include studio visits, conversations, and collection visits.

Hammer Collective

The Hammer Collective is an invitation-only group of young arts patrons brought together to support Hammer Projects, the Hammer’s long-running exhibition series dedicated to solo presentations of emerging and internationally-regarded artists.

This group provides critical annual support for Hammer Projects while bringing together the next generation of Los Angeles’s art collectors and patrons through unique programs and events. Collective members enjoy an enriched relationship to both the Hammer and the international contemporary art world through distinct opportunities to visit artists, engage with and learn from the Hammer curators, meet established collectors, and develop as important representatives for the museum in Los Angeles and abroad.

The group is comprised of two levels: an executive committee and general membership. Together the Hammer Collective members will learn from the Hammer’s curators and each other about the many ways to support institutions and artists, and play a significant role in the growing cultural landscape of Los Angeles.
