A Catalan exile who has lived in Chile since 1939, Roser Bru produced an extensive series of works on the Chilean poet and writer Gabriela Mistral. The only Latin American woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature (1945), Mistral is a central figure in Chilean culture. The writer attempted to raise awareness of women's social and civic role, especially in relation to education. In this work, Bru made use of Mistral's portrait in many different mediums (printed, photocopied, painted) to create an archive of the face, to render the document poetic as if attempting to reassert the presence of an emblematic Chilean figure, a poetic and political female voice.

Roser Bru, exiliada catalana que vive en Chile desde 1939, realiza una extensa serie sobre la poeta y escritora chilena Gabriela Mistral. Única mujer latinoamericana galardonada con el premio Nobel de literatura (1945), Mistral es una figura central en la cultura chilena. Mistral buscó crear una conciencia respecto del rol social y civil de las mujeres, destacando la importancia de su educación. En esta obra Bru inserta el retrato de Mistral desde varios puntos de vista: la imagen impresa, el retrato fotocopiado, la imagen pintada. Dentro de la obra Bru crea un archivo del rostro, poetiza el documento, como si fuese necesario reafirmar la presencia de esa figura emblemática chilena, una voz femenina poética y política.
