Tecla Tofano was a multidisciplinary feminist artist whose artistic production from the 1960s was focused on unorthodox ceramic work. The work En vía de liberación reveals a woman who carries in her belly an inverted female symbol, a "cross" that keeps her prisoner because of her exclusive maternal role or perhaps signifies the sacrifice of maternity as a liberating path. In a harsh self-criticism from a feminist perspective, the artist made visible the conventional structures and the legal framework by which women contribute to their own submission to social norms.

Tecla Tofano fue una artista y feminista multidisciplinar cuya producción artística de los años sesenta se centró en una forma poco ortodoxa de cerámica. El trabajo En vía de liberación revela a una mujer que lleva en su vientre un símbolo femenino invertido, una "cruz" que la mantiene prisionera de su exclusivo rol maternal o quizás también pudiera significar el sacrificio de la maternidad como un paso liberador. En una dura auto crítica desde un punto de vista feminista, la artista hizo visible las estructuras convencionales y el marco legal por el cual las mujeres contribuyen a su propia sumisión a las normas sociales.
