Danse Bouquet , 1965

In Argentina in the 1960s Ana Kamien and Marilú Marini formed the group Danza Actual, which radicalized the relationships between choreography, set and costume design, and music. The group eschewed virtuosity and the demands of artistic discipline, bringing together classical dance and folk and popular music. Performances such as Danse Bouquet and La fiesta, hoy! (Party today!, 1966) also drew on the worlds of comic books, Hollywood films, the music hall, and fashion photography. In many of the group's performances there was no stage, but slide projections were incorporated. Classical dance was mocked by paintings that made use of delirious humor, and images inserted in multimedia shows relativized the dancers' choreographic feats. Kamien and Marini were adamant that their practice not be bound by the rigid norms in which they had been inculcated while training in classical dance.

Ana Kamien y Marilú Marini, formaron en los años 60, en la Argentina, el grupo Danza Actual, que radicalizó las relaciones entre coreografía, puesta escénica, música y vestuario. Dejando de lado el virtuosismo y las exigencias disciplinares, integró la danza clásica con la música folklórica y popular, y los universos de las historietas, las películas de Hollywood, el Music Hall y las fotografías de moda, en espectáculos como Danse Bouquet (1965) y ¡La fiesta, hoy! (1966). Con frecuencia, los escenarios fueron reemplazados con proyecciones de diapositivas y se ridiculizaba a la danza clásica mediante cuadros de humor delirante, insertos en shows multimediales que relativizaban los logros coreográficos.
