In the 1970s Anna Bella Geiger explored conceptualism and video art. Though Brazilian, she has deep European roots, and perhaps it is her connection to two cultures that brings her closer to the other, in this case, the indigenous other. The nine pairs of postcards in Geiger's Brasil nativo, Brasil alienígena juxtapose scenes of indigenous life with images that imitate them. Geiger bought postcards featuring Bororo Indians, which were commonly sold at newsstands in tourist cities, and then created a set of corresponding images in which she inserted herself into the scenes. Just like the Indians in the postcards, who assumed poses directed by a white photographer, Geiger was playing a role. Her photographs call into question the authenticity of the "exotic" mementos that tourists take back to their supposedly civilized lands.

En los años 70 Anna Bella Geiger exploró el conceptualismo y el vídeoarte.  Aunque Geiger es brasilera, tiene profundas raíces europeas, y quizás sea a través de su conexión con dos culturas que se conecta a otra, en este caso, la indígena.  Los nueve pares de tarjetas postales que forman la obra de Geiger Brasil nativo, Brasil alienígena yuxtaponen escenas de la vida de los indígenas con imágenes que las imitan. Geiger compró postales en las que aparecen indígenas Bororo, de las que solían venderse en kioscos de revistas en ciudades turísticas, y luego creó una serie de imágenes correspondientes en las que se insertó ella misma. Así como los indígenas en las postales que posan según las directivas del fotógrafo blanco, Geiger hacía un papel. Sus fotografías cuestionan la autenticidad de los recuerdos "exóticos" que los turistas se llevan a sus tierras supuestamente civilizadas.
