SPACE IS THE PLACE: Selections from the Hammer Contemporary Collection Apr 5 – Sep 6, 2026 Taking its title from the 1973 studio album and 1974 film by Sun Ra, the selected works in this group exhibition consider “space” as a conceptual framework, through the themes of afro-futurism, belonging, placemaking, and the act of taking up space. Arthur Jafa: The White Album Mar 14 – Aug 30, 2026 Assembled from found and produced footage, Arthur Jafa’s 30-minute experimental film examines how visual media can transmit the “power, beauty, and alienation” of Black music in American culture. Five Centuries of Works on Paper: The Grunwald Center at 70 Dec 20, 2025 – May 17, 2026 This exhibition marks the 70th anniversary of the Grunwald Center, celebrating its history through a selection of significant works that reflect the collection’s breadth and diversity.
