Family Flicks: The White Balloon

A simply presented but powerful fable of perseverance, The White Balloon is the story of a seven year old girl on her way to buy a goldfish for Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, and the obstacles she overcomes along the way. Listed as one of the 50 best family films of all time in The Guardian, director Jafar Panahi’s debut feature won the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and announced the arrival of a major new voice on the international film scene. (1995, dir. Jafar Panahi, 35mm, color, Persian with English subtitles, 85 min.)

The Family Flicks Film Series is copresented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. Matinee screenings for families and film buffs, featuring new and classic films from around the world.

Ticketing: Admission is free. Your seat will be assigned to you when you pick up your ticket at the box office. Seats are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Parking: Valet parking is available on Lindbrook Drive for $15 cash only. Self-parking is available under the museum for an $8 flat rate.
