Family Flicks: Matinee
- This is a past program
Recommended for ages 10+*
Perfect for tweens, Matinee follows movie-obsessed teen Gene, who spends most afternoons huddled in a theater with his kid brother. On the same day in 1962 that President Kennedy takes to T.V. to warn of nuclear attack, B-movie producer Lawrence Woosley (John Goodman, modeled after legendary director-producer-screenwriter-actor William Castle) rolls into Gene’s town and decides the local atmosphere is ideal for the premiere of his latest over-the-top creature feature. (1993, dir. Joe Dante, 35mm, color, 99 min.)
*All ages are welcome. Feel free to take a break with infants and toddlers in the theater lobby.
The Family Flicks Film Series is copresented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. Matinee screenings for families and film buffs, featuring new and classic films from around the world.
