Also I Like to Rock: Admiral Radley + The Happy Hollows

  • to This is a past program

The Hammer courtyard turns electric in July when Also I Like to Rock returns for a series of free concerts featuring today’s top emerging bands. Presented in partnership with KCRW 89.9 FM and curated by Buzz Bands LA, two bands per night will perform with KCRW DJs spinning before and between sets. Galleries are open until 9pm.

Featuring DJ Anne Litt.

Admiral Radley—What happens when members of two acclaimed indie bands get together? Magic, judging from the deft touches on the forthcoming album I Heart California. The brand-new quartet is the brainchild of Jason Lytle and Aaron Burtch of Grandaddy and Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray of Earlimart.

The Happy Hollows—Don’t be deceived by Sarah Negahdari’s pixieish charm—the Los Angeles trio’s frontwoman packs a wallop with every yelp and guitar lick. Their debut album Spells brims with tightly wound but playful indie rock and exhilarating choruses.

Public programs are made possible, in part, by a major gift from Ann and Jerry Moss.

Additional support is provided by Bronya and Andrew Galef, Good Works Foundation and Laura Donnelly, an anonymous donor, the Hammer Programs Committee, and Susan and Leonard Nimoy.
