Lecture: Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg

  • to This is a past program

Swedish-born, Berlin-based artist Nathalie Djurberg creates claymation videos (with wildly inventive soundtracks of squirts and munching composed by collaborator, composer Hans Berg) which appear sweet and idyllic at first glance, but the action takes dark, twisted, and disturbing turns as her characters act out wild revenge fantasies and other violent scenarios. Djurberg and Berg discuss their process and screen several short videos.

Djurberg has had solo exhibitions at the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, and the Prada Foundation, Milan, and was included in the 4th berlin biennale. Currently Djurberg and Berg are in a two and a half month artist residency at the Hammer Museum.

Hammer Artist Talks include lively Q&A sessions with the audience and offer a great chance to learn more about important emerging artists from the artist themselves.
