Obsession

In the movie Big, Tom Hanks made a wish and became a man-child. In Obsession, Bear makes a wish and gets a psychotic girlfriend. The ultimate cautionary tale about seeing the world with rose-colored glasses, Obsession marks yet another blockbuster in the Blumhouse canon. Written, directed, and edited by the perversely clever Curry Barker, and apparently inspired by an episode of The Simpsons, Obsession is not only genuinely shocking and funny and best served in a cinema packed with horror fans, it’s also a trenchantly observant look at romance, sex, and basic human interaction—or lack thereof—among Gen Zers.

2026. USA. Written and directed by Curry Barker. With Inde Navarrette, Michael Johnston, Megan Lawless, Cooper Tomlinson. DCP courtesy Focus Features. 109 min.
