826LA@Hammer: Moving Words
- This is a past program
Free collaborative workshops, presented with 826LA, combine writing with creative activities for groups of up to 20 students.
Recommended for ages 8–14.
Reservations encouraged. Visit 826la.org or call 310-915-0200.
Engage in a series of writing games and prompts to create unique short stories. Using a somatic approach, students will explore space, shape, and emotion through movement inspired by their stories. Connecting creative writing with physical movement, participants will collaborate to weave their narratives into a complete play. Led by artist and educator Matthew Shaffer.
Academic Programs at the Hammer Museum are supported by the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation and the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation. Additional support is provided by Mary Kitchen and Jonathan Orszag, Babyletto, The Brotman Foundation of California, City National Bank, Ellen & Teddy Schwarzman, Jay Meredith Stein & Josh Zwass, and friends of the Hammer Museum's Kids Art Museum Project (K.A.M.P.).
