AIX Scent Fair Kickoff Keynote and Panel

  • This is a past program

To kick off the weekend-long series of programs around AIX Scent Fair, we present a diverse group of speakers who share their knowledge of history, culture, psychology, science, and the arts to expand our understanding of how smell works – and what it might mean to smell. Keynote Speaker: Lizzie Ostrom, AKA Odette Toilette, author and scented event organizer. Panelists: Chandler Burr, journalist, author and curator of olfactory art; Dr. Avery Gilbert, psychologist and self-described smell scientist, entrepreneur, and author; and Jacquelyn Ford Morie, scientist and virtual reality innovator. Panel moderated by Saskia Wilson-Brown, founder and director, The Institute for Art and Olfaction.

All Hammer public programs are free and made possible by a major gift from an anonymous donor.

Generous support is also provided by Susan Bay Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy, Good Works Foundation and Laura Donnelley, an anonymous donor, The Samuel Goldwyn Foundation, and all Hammer members.

The Hammer’s digital presentation of its public programs is made possible by the Billy and Audrey L. Wilder Foundation.
