Tara Jane ONeil and Bouquet’s Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs frequently collaborate with dancers, writers, and artists to organize evenings of experimental performance at James Kidd Studio’s Pieter performance space. The Studio’s contribution to Made in L.A., Gold Stage, highlights Pieter’s creative community and showcases the artists that help fuel what James Kidd refers to as, “the good vibe vibrational consciousness,” of the space.
Bouquet
Bouquet will perform a 30-minute song cycle.
Bouquet is a kaleidoscopic pop duo from Los Angeles, CA consisting of Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs and Max Foreman. The two set out to create a uniquely inviting, immersive sound, intoning delicate vocal harmonies to a rising, ghostlike mass of guitar, trembling synthesizer, and pulsations of early rhythm machines. Lyrics alternate between painterly portraits out of time and devastatingly simple pop tenacity to delightful effect. Bouquet's music echoes undefinable post-punk wonders Young Marble Giants and This Mortal Coil, synth heroes Cluster, and the dulcet sensibilities of Sibylle Baier and Sandy Denny.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer, Tara Jane ONeil creates melodic and experimental music under her own name and in collaboration with artists of all disciplines, from solo songing to large ensemble sound architectures. As a solo artist TJO has released 7 full length albums internationally. She was a founding member of the art punk band, Rodan, and a satellite member of a mulititude of bands. She has composed music for film, theater and dance performances. In addition to rock clubs, galleries and DIY spaces all around the world, she has performed at the Centre de Pompidou, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, All Tomorrow’s Parties, and the TBA festival.
