Some Favorite Writers: Madeline Miller

  • This is a past program

Madeline Miller’s debut novel The Song of Achilles—awarded the 2012 Orange Prize for Fiction—is a thrilling retelling of the Iliad and the legend of Achilles. Miller has a BA and MA from Brown University in Latin and Ancient Greek, and has been teaching both for the past nine years.

Some Favorite Writers is supported, in part, by the UCLA Department of English and Friends of English.

This series of readings is organized by Mona Simpson, author of My Hollywood, Anywhere But Here, and Off Keck Road. Readings are followed by discussions with Simpson.

All Hammer public programs are free and made possible by a major gift from the Dream Fund at UCLA.

Generous support is also provided by Susan Bay Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy, the Simms/Mann Family Foundation, The Brotman Foundation of California, Good Works Foundation and Laura Donnelley, and all Hammer members.
