Bay Area bassist Lisa Mezzacappa collaborates with Brooklyn vocalist Fay Victor in this East-meets-West-Coast trio. The trio’s repertoire explores a wide-open concept of jazz language and feeling, with inspiration drawn from the earthiness of the blues, the sonic explorations of the avant-garde, the lean architecture of pop music, and a keen sensitivity to sound and groove. The two are joined by guitarist John Finkbeiner.
JazzPOP returns to the Hammer courtyard in August with three free concerts featuring some of today’s most original and distinctive voices in West Coast jazz and improvised music. Curated by Lisa Mezzacappa.
