Anila Rubiku

Anila Rubiku’s work deals with ideas of memory, time, architecture, gender, and social issues through drawing and installation. The artist will discuss the history of her work as well as her experience of the Hammer Museum’s Artist Residency Program, in which she led weekly drawing and embroidery workshops at the museum. Rubiku was born in Durres, Albania and now lives between Milan, Italy and Tirana, Albania. Her work is shown internationally and is in a number of private and public collections in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
The Hammer Museum’s Artist Residency Program is supported through a generous grant from The Simms/Mann Family Foundation. The residency program was initiated with funding from the Nimoy Foundation and receives continued support from The James Irvine Foundation.
