Eric Klerks & Dylan McKenzie

Visitors to the Permanent Collection and Luisa Lambri’s Being There will be presented with the option to “check out” guitarist Eric Klerks or Dylan McKenzie to walk with them through the exhibitions. He will follow the visitor around, playing live music into headphones through which only that visitor can hear. This event will happen intermittently on Thursdays or Saturdays throughout the year, in various galleries and exhibitions.

DREAM-IN
Approximately 170 people have registered to camp out in the Hammer courtyard and collect any dreams that occur during their stay. The evening will feature experimental dreaming workshops, concerts, and bedtime stories, followed by a waking concert in the morning, all facilitated by a dreamy batch of local artist-psychonauts

UCLA’s Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) are pleased to announce the joint acquisition of the complete archive of prints by Los Angeles publisher Edition Jacob Samuel. The two museums have been collaborating for over two years to realize the acquisition, which was just recently finalized. Since 1988, Jacob Samuel has published 43 portfolios, and his archive comprises more than 800 prints made by a wide range of over 50 international artists, including Marina Abramovic, John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Mona Hatoum, Rebecca Horn, Anish Kapoor, Barry McGee, Ed Moses, Matthew Monahan, Wangechi Mutu, Gabriel Orozco, Nancy Rubins, Ed Ruscha, Robert Therrien, James Welling, Christopher Wool

This Week in A.I.R. / April 12 - 17

Machine Project presents a two week tabla (north Indian classical drums) interactive interstitial at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles from April 6 - 17, 2010 curated by Robin Sukhadia. Come and participate in a wide range of tabla centered events including tabla workshops and classical / contemporary Indian music performances.

About the Hammer Dream-In

This event is being held in conjunction with the Hammer's Red Book exhibition.

On May 1st, 2010, artSpa and Machine Project will host an overnight Dream-In at the Hammer Museum. Dreamers are invited to camp out in the Hammer courtyard and collect any dreams that occur during their stay. The evening will feature experimental dreaming workshops, concerts, and bedtime stories, followed by a waking concert in the morning, all facilitated by a dreamy batch of local artist-psychonauts. The following day museum patrons may encounter dream reenactments, workshops, and napping music during their visit.
