HEAD FOR THE HILLS! Selections from the Grunwald Center and Hammer Contemporary Collection

HEAD FOR THE HILLS! includes many recent acquisitions and demonstrates the Hammer’s commitment to collecting diverse work by both local and international artists in a broad range of mediums. Borrowing its title from a 1974 work by the conceptual artist John Knight—a slideshow of newspaper headlines extracted from their original context in the Los Angeles Times—this exhibition highlights artworks that use the local, personal, and banal to tap into the universal.

HEAD FOR THE HILLS! Selections from the Grunwald Center and Hammer Contemporary Collection is organized by Paulina Pobocha, former Robert Soros Senior Curator, with Jennifer Buonocore-Nedrelow, curatorial assistant.
