In this comic drama, Oliver (Ewan McGregor) comes to terms with his father’s (Christopher Plummer) death. Through Oliver’s evolving consciousness, accelerated by meeting the irreverent Anna (Mélanie Laurent), Beginners illustrates how often life’s darkest moments can simultaneously be deeply funny and transformative.

A Q&A with director Mike Mills will follow the screening. (2011. Dir. Mike Mills. 104 min.)
