Breakin'

  • This is a past program

Breakin’ brought the skill and energy of breakdancing to the big screen, laying the foundation for countless dance films to come. It’s a now-familiar story of a classically trained dancer using street culture to jazz up her style, but the combination of a campy narrative and astonishing breakdancing sequences by performers Adolfo "Shabba Doo" Quinones and Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers is pure delight. Bonus points for the on-screen debuts of both Ice-T and Jean-Claude Van Damme. (1984, dir. Joel Silberg, 90 min.)
