In Robert Altman’s rollicking 1980 musical, brawny, spinach-eating sailor Popeye seeks his “Pappy” in the seaside village of Sweethaven, romances Olive Oyl, and dukes it out with the hulking Bluto. Familiar friends Wimpy and Swee’pea also make appearances, as the characters populate a fanciful world that fully realizes the trippy vision of celebrated cartoonist, playwright and screenwriter Jules Feiffer.
