Sunday Afternoons for Kids: Concrete Verse Menagerie

  • to This is a past program

Children's book illustrator Mary Peterson tells funny stories with her art. Her books include the award-winning Wiggle and Waggle, by Caroline Arnold, and No Time to Nap, by Mike Madison; coming soon from Charlesbridge Publishing is Pumpkin Patch, which she also co-authored. With Mary, workshop attendees will combine concrete poetry with paper models to create a zoo unlike any other.

Sunday Afternoons for Kids

Celebratory holiday pageants about computers, scary screenplays, and sock puppet wrestling have all sprung to life in the Hammer’s collaborative writing workshop presented with 826LA.  Designed for groups of up to 20 students, ages 8-13, reservations are encouraged and can be made by emailing workshops@826la.org or calling 310-305-8418 by the Thursday prior to each workshop. Walk-ins welcome.

826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

Public programs are made possible by a major gift from Ann and Jerry Moss.

Additional support is provided by Laura Donnelley, Bronya and Andrew Galef, and the Hammer Programs Committee.
