Paved Paradise: Redux – The Songs of Joni Mitchell

  • to This is a past program

John Kelly is a performance and visual artist whose work began in New York’s East Village clubs in the early 1980s; since that time he has created more than 30 works that have been presented at many performance and alternative venues, including the Tate Modern, the Whitney Biennial, Dance Theater Workshop, and the Drawing Center. Louise Kennedy of the Boston Globe calls Paved Paradise, “Spooky, amusing, and weirdly moving” and says, “Kelly doesn’t so much impersonate Mitchell as channel her, and he does it with a blend of affection and discernment that is remarkable to behold.”

Public programs are made possible by a major gift from Ann and Jerry Moss.

Additional support is provided by Laura Donnelley, Bronya and Andrew Galef, and the Hammer Programs Committee.
