Sunday Afternoons for Kids: DIY Holiday

  • to This is a past program

Think the winter holidays are too commercial? Or too traditional? Join us for the third annual 826LA/Hammer Museum DIY Holiday Workshop! Workshop attendees will invent a holiday, create traditional recipes and festive holiday cards, and write and star in the first ever _____ holiday pageant. What will this year's holiday be? (Previous DIY Holiday Workshops resulted in Cheese-a-Lot Day and Runaway Engineer Day.) Will we decorate with pine cones or traffic cones? Share candy bars or gold stars or used cars? Join us on December 14 to redefine the holidays.

Sunday Afternoons for Kids

Celebratory holiday pageants about computers, scary screenplays, and sock puppet wrestling have all sprung to life in the Hammer’s collaborative writing workshop presented with 826LA. Designed for groups of up to 20 students, ages 8-13, reservations are encouraged and can be made by emailing workshops@826la.org or calling 310-305-8418 by the Thursday prior to each workshop. Walk-ins welcome.

826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

Public programs are made possible by a major gift from Ann and Jerry Moss.

Additional support is provided by Laura Donnelley, Bronya and Andrew Galef, and the Hammer Programs Committee.
