Gala in the Garden

The Gala is a highly anticipated event that supports the Hammer’s dynamic and nationally acclaimed exhibitions and free public programs. The Hammer has become a beloved city institution and Gala in the Garden attracts cultural luminaries and civic leaders, as well as renowned artists, premier collectors, and devoted patrons of the arts. The evening includes a viewing of current exhibitions and cocktails followed by a seated dinner, catered by Suzanne Goin of Lucques, one of the foremost restaurants in Los Angeles, in the outdoor courtyard.

On Saturday, October 5, 2013, the Hammer Museum celebrated and honored two extraordinary individuals— artist Robert Gober and playwright Tony Kushner—at our 11th Gala in the Garden. Acclaimed artist Charles Ray and award-winning actress Viola Davis both offered tributes to their friends Bob and Tony, respectively.
