Hosting private events at the Hammer Museum is a benefit to our Corporate Partners. The Hammer’s many public spaces can be transformed into stunning settings for large or intimate celebrations with a guest capacity ranging from 50 to 1,800 guests. Possible venues include the Courtyard, Wilshire Lobby, Lindbrook Terrace, Annex and the Billy Wilder Theater.

The Museum’s Wilshire Lobby is a grand space well-suited for cocktail receptions and intimate dinners and features large-scale installations that provide a dramatic backdrop for all events, along with sweeping views of Wilshire Boulevard. A Carrara marble countertop desk functions as a beverage serving station. Occupancy is 80 for seated events and 350 for receptions. Lobby events must be planned to take place on Mondays or after the Museum’s public hours.
The Museum's open-air courtyard is a marble and granite contemporary-designed oasis, surrounded by covered porticos and flanked by the Billy Wilder Theater and Café Hammer. It accommodates up to 500 guests for a seated dinner, 800 for buffet and 900 guests for a cocktail party. Designed by Michael Maltzan, the Billy Wilder Theater is a truly memorable setting with its strikingly designed interior and state-of-the-art capabilities. Built to the highest standards of film and video projection, it can accommodate technologies dating from the early 1900s to present. This versatile space not only serves as an ideal screening room, but also as a performance venue with a stage and flexible sound and lighting systems designed to support a multitude of events. Trained professional Hammer audiovisual technicians are on hand to assist. The theater seats up to 295.
This multi-purpose event room is ideal for lectures, conferences and presentations of many types. Occupancy for theater-style seating is 200; seated events can accommodate 120 and up to 300 for cocktail receptions. This blank canvased space can be transformed as needed into a wonderful event setting.
Overlooking the Courtyard, Lindbrook Terrace is a sheltered and secluded outdoor balcony area adjacent to the main galleries. Through the magnificently arched window, guests will enjoy sweeping views of Westwood Village and the Santa Monica Mountains. It is an ideal setting for an intimate formal seated dinner for up to 150 or a casual cocktail reception for up to 300. If your guest list is more than 300, you may want to take advantage of a higher level of Corporate Partnership that includes use of the Gallery Promenades, where a cocktail reception can take place in one area and a dinner in another.
