Contemplative Art Viewing
On Saturday, September 8, 1-2:15PM, mindfulness educator Mitra Manesh will lead a 75-minute mindful art-viewing experience of the Armand Hammer Collection. This contemplative session is designed to deepen the art exploration experience by focusing on the suspension of judgment and creating an opportunity for art, artist, and self to be considered anew. Each part of this guided mediation - looking, listening (featuring orchestra in residence, wild Up), walking, and discussion - aims to bring the awareness of all of the senses to the present moment.
Parking is available under the museum for $3 for 3 hours.
ABOUT PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Part of the curatorial department, the Public Engagement program collaborates with artists to develop and present works that create an exchange among the artist, the museum, and the visitor. Enacted both inside and outside the galleries, Public Engagement projects range from re-envisioned security guard uniforms to library and orchestra residencies. Public Engagement was established in 2009 thanks to a James Irvine Foundation Arts Innovation Fund grant.
