DESCRIPTION:Libros Schmibros is back at the Hammer with a monthly book club
led by co-directors David Kipen and Colleen Jaurretche. Convenings will f
ocus on books related to the museum’s exhibitions and programs. \n\n\n\n
The Ecstasy of Influence by Jonathan Lethem\, coinciding with the authorâ€
™s visit on March 13. The terrific word on Lethem’s new\, artfully selec
ted nonfiction collection\, The Ecstasy of Influence\, proves more than ju
stified. It reads like a library of his many obsessions\, which makes it t
he perfect title to inaugurate a book club curated by another cockeyed lib
rary\, Libros Schmibros.\n\n\n\nAll Libros Schmibros Book Club selections
are available in the Hammer store for purchase. \n\n\n\nALL HAMMER PUBLIC
PROGRAMS ARE FREE. Parking is available under the museum for $3 for 3 ho
urs.\n\n\n\nThe Hammer Museum’s Public Engagement program seeks to creat
e a new kind of interactive museum: an artist-driven visitor engagement pr
ogram that encourages contact among visitors\, artists\, and Museum staff\
, and activates spaces in imaginative ways.\n\n\n\nThe Hammer Museum’s P
ublic Engagement program is supported through a major grant from The James
Irvine Foundation.\n\n\n\nLibros Schmibros is a project of the Pasadena A
rtist Council’s EMERGE fiscal sponsorship program.\n\n
